‘Tis the Season to be Blitzened

I absolutely love the holidays for the simple fact that they are all about spending time with families and attending festive events! The other day I went to Anthropologie to shop with my sister Katherine and we saw the most awesome vintage cocktail utensils… shakers, glasses, and gold jiggers. I want the whole collection so bad, it would be so fun for holiday parties with friends!

After Christmas shopping, it was time to celebrate Katherine’s 23rd birthday! It’s always difficult to celebrate a birthday that is near the holidays because it can be difficult to differentiate holiday festivities from an actual birthday celebration, but we decided to really celebrate this year since it’s nearly impossible for all of us to get together now. My Mama met Katherine and I at Taverna for lunch and some Prosecco and pizza… amazing, they have the most amazing focaccia, I totally recommend this restaurant for breakfast, lunch, and dinner! The birthday cake was great too 🙂

After Taverna, my sister and my Mama and I headed to the Katy Trail Ice House! I asked, and I think there are about 52 beers on tap which makes this place the perfect relaxing afternoon hangout. We were so in the mood for some beer… by the way (for all of you TCU Horned Frogs), there are some new Fort Worth brewery choices on their beer list! I love the Rhar & Sons Blonde, and I enjoyed a few of those with my sister and Mama! Then our cousin Brent and his adorable girlfriend, Ashley, joined us a little later. They are so cute and fun, it’s always a great tiem when they show up. Being with all of these people really made the day that much more special!

After a few beers at the Ice House, my Mama and sister and I met my Dad at La Duni for a birthday dinner! La Duni is probably one of my most favorite restaurants in Dallas, it’s literally the best food on earth and their drinks are to die for! Furthermore, we continued our celebration with some amazing frozen mojitos! I have made my own mojitos multiple times before, but I have yet been able to achieve their perfect ‘frozen’ consistency! Maybe one day… but these were so good and so was the dinner! It was a bummer that my sister Blair couldn’t be there for Katherine’s birthday, but this was the perfect birthday birthday celebration for Katherine!
