Sweet, cool, refreshing…. yep, this drink has it all! I love margaritas, but not the fake, syrupy kind. I like the natural, fresh, real kind! These are made with all real fruit and a hint of fresh mint.
I started with making a perfect sugar rim with fresh lime zest to add a little extra! I used an organic coarse ground sugar that was a little thicker than normal sugar. This sugar and lime zest mixture smelled so good, Sara (one of my roomies) and I almost licked the sugar plate clean! I then put a little lime wedge for garnish on the top and placed both glasses in the freezer so they would be nice and cool.
I put all the fresh ingredients in a blender together until it was blended to a very smooth and even consistency. I poured them evenly into the frosty glasses!
Sara and I thoroughly enjoyed these frozen treats! Probably because this recipe is a quick, guilt-free drink that is low-calorie, low sugar, and all natural! This recipe serves 2!
-1/4 cup silver tequila
-2 oz. triple sec
-juice from 1 lime
-1 and 1/3 cup frozen mango chunks
-10 mint leaves
-1 tsp sugar
-1 and 1/2 cups ice
Fill the bottom of a plate with a shallow layer of sugar. With a zester, zest the skin of the lime and mix the green flecks evenly in the sugar. Take two glasses (small, like in the pictures above), and wet the top rim with a lime wedge. Turn the cup upside-down and into the sugar a lime zest mixture. Swirl the cup in a circular motion until the entire top rim is coated with sugar. Place both glasses in the freezer. In a blender, combine tequila, triple sec, lime juice (I used a lime juicer), frozen mango chunks, sugar, and 10 large mint leaves. Blend until margarita reaches a smooth consistency. Enjoy!
